Assemblymember Mathis and his team worked closely with PSW and the California Disability Services association to authored AB 2423, which was signed into law on September 28, 2024. This legislation mandates that, starting July 1, 2025, and every other year thereafter, the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) must review and update the rate models used to determine compensation for service providers supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. These updates are contingent upon legislative appropriations and federal funding approvals. The bill aims to ensure that service providers receive fair compensation reflective of current costs, thereby enhancing the quality and sustainability of services for individuals with I/DD.
