Every year, for various holidays, the employees do something special for the individuals at Club 621. However, this year was a bit different and very special. On February 12th, for Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Leggs’ thirteen Psychiatric Technician students planned eight different activities, created the games, and ran the booths.
Each individual had the freedom to participate in all the activities or just those they chose. Naturally, all the booths were themed around Valentine’s Day. The activities included: Put the Heart on the Valentine Bear, a Photo Booth, Decorating Gift Bags for Valentine cards, Decorating Valentine Cards, a Bean Bag Toss through Hearts, Punching Cups with Candy, Valentine Bingo, and Cookie Decoration.
While it was a day filled with party-like activities, it was also rich in compassion, laughter, camaraderie, kindness, and humility. The individuals were not rushed through the various activities but were allowed to go at their own pace. This enabled them to fully enjoy the experience, share laughs with friends, employees, and PT students. On February 12, 2025, Club 621 was filled with smiles in every corner of the building. It was a moment free of concerns about each other’s different abilities, and I consider that a win!
The following Wednesday, on February 19th, the employees and individuals signed a card of appreciation for the students, along with sharing a few donuts.
